Walking the extra mile

In this morning’s prayer and meditation, I was given instructions to go the extra mile, to take extra steps, in service of my brothers and sisters today. Jesus mentions this in the Bible, and it is also mentioned in chapter 4 of A Course in Miracles text.

The concept of true devotion as a spiritual practitioner is very powerful for me right now. I have a day of busyness and service planned for me, and I am blessed to be filled with the willingness to place myself in positions of true helpfulness today.

As I meditated this morning I was shown that all throughout my day I will be given little opportunities to extend kindness and charity to others (pausing a little longer to hold the door open for someone, offering patience in a moment that could easily be rushed and overlooked, allowing someone to be exactly where they are without my need to interfere or change them ).

When I extend kindness and a bit more effort on my part, I will be filled with the benefit of that giving. What I give I receive, and so every effort that I make today will be given back to me, only multiplied.

I have been practicing identifying as a light worker, sent on a mission by the Divine to forgive everything in my life, in my mind, and in my world. These instructions to go the extra mile, and take the extra steps in service of others is a practical guide to how I can achieve that and fulfill my function in this world.

It was also made clear to me that posting this journal and sharing it is how I can remember these instructions for myself. I find that when I receive instructions about how to go about my day, it can be easy to forget as the hours go on and I get caught up in my worldly identity and all of the “problems” (distractions, really) that pose themselves.

But I’m here to remember and demonstrate the Truth, not to forget it over and over again. As soon as I remember that I have forgotten, that is my cue to remember again😊 over and over again throughout my day I’m asked to remember my divine mission, and to use every opportunity available to me to give of myself.

I am here to learn, and I am here to teach. I teach what I learn, and I learn what I teach. I am both teacher and student, as we all are every day of our lives.

I take these instructions from the Spirit seriously, and I am honored to do my part and to take the time out to receive the benefits of my own giving, my own teaching. I am in need of learning, and so I teach what I would learn today.

I think of the charity, clarity and compassion that Jesus, Mother Mary, and countless other teachers and Saints have demonstrated over the course of time. I want to be like them. I want to demonstrate that only love is real. I want to wake up from the dream of being separate from Eternal Love. May it be so today🙏🏼
